The South African Students’ Congress (SASCO) mourns the passing of Comrade Zindziswa ‘Zindzi’ Mandela

The South African Students’ Congress (SASCO) has learnt with a great shock of the passing of one of the country’s fearless freedom fighters. To us, Zindziswa ‘’Zindzi’’ Mandela symbolized a relatively younger generation of freedom fighters, a freedom fighter whose story the country is not ready to hear. A story of a young girl whose involvement in the underground operations of the ANC during the liberation years, including being a visible face and a critical voice against Apartheid can never be downplayed and shall forever remain in the South African history books.

Zindzi’s deployment as an ambassador shall always remind the students and young people of this country that the service to the nation doesn’t come with the motive to maximize profit through parasitic means like some children of liberation stalwarts. Her loyalty to service our people and forever represent the views of our people domestically and abroad is an example and inspiration we draw from her character.

As the student’s movement we send condolences to the entire liberation movement which became her immediate family when her parents were both detained by the brutal Apartheid system. We forward our heartfelt condolences to her immediate family and our people who loved her dearly.

SASCO pays tribute to the life of a revolutionary who lived serving the people.
We call on our government and the Mass Democratic Movement to honour Ambassador Zindzi by naming one of the nine (9) TVET Colleges which President Cyril on behalf of Government announced to build this year during State of the Nation Address (SONA).

“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will”. Chuck Palahniuk

Comrade Zindzi Mandela will continue to live through her ideas which everyone must carry and implement.
